PURPOSE OF OUR TROUPE

We think the troupe was formed about 1991... our philosophy is to remain an exciting, entertaining dance troupe while fostering friendship and sisterhood in the dance community. It is required you play nice with others to be a member of Raqs El Sehr, and we are proud of it. We are all ages, all sizes, all ethnic backgrounds and all dancers!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Saqra and her dance troupe, Raqs el Sehr, have been regular performers at Clark County Fair, Camas Harvest Days and the Uptown Village Merchant's Street Festival for a number of years. They have performed as the main entertainment for the SWIFT (Southwest Washington Independent Forward Thrust) charity auction, danced at Farmer's Market & the "Lunch in the Park with the Mayor" event in downtown Vancouver, WA. In the past were featured to open the Vancouver, WA, Art's Crawl. Participated in the Rose Festival International Dance Pavillion in 1998. Have also performed for the American Diabetes Association Walk and the Captain Vancouver statue benefit along with several benefits for AID'S hospices.

Saqra and the troupe also dance regularly for Leupke Senior Center (those wild folks! "The Amigo's!") and a number of retirement, convalescent and special care facilities. Why? Because we believe in giving back to the community.
